The 'house'

Today we were again reminded of our status as "the house" for Josh's friends (and sometimes large groups of Hans and Bethany's friends, as well).  4 of his friends came over today to hang out.  They ended up taking Hans with them on a bike ride to the lower Norwood park, then picked up pizza on their way back to the house this evening.  Yes, the teens bought their own pizza for dinner - and Hans pitched in some money for his share as well.  I'm so proud!  We watched School of Rock with dinner, and then I built my first real fire in our fire pit (it is BEAUTIFUL weather here, thank you God!).  Bethany and some others roasted marshmallows for smores, Hans made me a marshmallow, and while everybody hung out and chatted, I cut down some pesky branches.  And pushed Boo on the swing - love that swing!  It's a rather unique experience being the 'house' that everyone wants to hang out in.  But very nice.  And I know they are really becoming comfortable here, because Alex walked in this afternoon and called out, "I'm home!".  Without knocking.  So it's kind of cool...

Love to all!

(ps - Happy Anniversary, love!  We miss you - everyone's asking about you, and we're waiting for you to come home!)

Snow?!?

Whoa...  It's November 7th, and it's SNOWING outside!  It's not sticking, but it is coooold outside, and the snow is coming down.  It sounded like rain at first, and when it got quiet, you could see the flakes beginning.  This is a good omen for skiing this season!

I hope that things are well with everyone else - my parents, who were out of communication for a while; Cindy, whom I desperately need to call; and all the people affected by Sandy.  Our prayers are with all of you.

On a lighter note, the picture of Tucker is so cozy...  I wish I could be a cat!

Love to all...

Election Day...

... and Bethany and Hans had the day off.  So they surprised me with a lovely breakfast!  Mini egg and bacon frittatas!  Delish, and good for you.  Bethany did the cooking, and Hans did the decorating and reading of the directions.  They even made coffee - good coffee!  They are such wonderful kids; so thoughtful AND talented!

Well, I hope everyone got out to vote!  We are still praying for all the displaced families in the area.  Take care!

Love to all...

Oh Sandy...

So we're all alive and fine, here.  There's some real heavy winds right now, and the kids had today and tomorrow off, but so far, we're managing really well.  Cody even has the days off (though he's working from home), so it's actually kind of nice.  We've been praying for everybody that they're safe and there's no serious flooding...

Take care, and we'll talk to you soon!

On a lighter note,

Toffee is so bizarre.  She climbed into Josh's martial arts bag - the one he uses to carry his smelly, nasty clothes back and forth to class.  She went to SLEEP in it - YUCK!  Whatever.  Apparently the men in our house are wonderfully yummy, because she loves to roll in their dirty clothes, and will act crazy sitting in their laps.  And by crazy I mean, 'licking their armpits through their shirts and nibbling them if they let her'.

I know Cody is yummy, but I'll wash his clothes the more conventional way, thanks.

So far...

The floor is looking great, compared to a week ago.  Thanks to my parents, not only was it all cleaned out and rearranged (in the living room), but the floor is getting done.  Here are some pictures of where the floor is at this point.

View from the doorway - 6 sheets (and most of the floor)

That's Mom cleaning the stonework; I'll post some before and after soon.

Looking at the doorway; more to do, but what a pretty, LEVEL, smooth base for the new kitchen!
I'll get some more pics posted as they are available!

RIP...

to all the garbage by the road!  Yea to the Norwood Sanitation guys - they are so wonderful.  I'm on my way out to bring in EMPTY garbage cans.  Ah, relief.

Then, back in the kitchen to lay down some more floor.  Oh yeah, and laundry.

I have to start packing and planning the last details for the cruise, since spring break - and our Bahamas trip - are coming up in two weeks.  Yikes!  Yea!  I guess you'd call that happy stress?!?

Hey to all our friends...

It's been a while, but I'll update everyone.   My mom and dad visited this week for Bethany and Josh's Confirmation, and helped me destroy my kitchen as well.  We're replacing the floor, and all the cabinets are gone.  So much more to do, but they can't stay forever.  Darn.

So lots of microwave dinners for a while.  LOL.  Not really.

I'll post some pictures, so if you want to watch my insanity unfold, you can see the slow deterioration!  LOL.   Again, not really!
